The vibrant sounds of the frog population, fire flies, and over 100 species of birds made it a delight for nature lovers. The spa services were extensive and there were opportunities to explore the unique wildlife during tea breaks. Luxury accommodation met my every need.
Oh, I just loved how the staff worked with suppliers outside of the European Economic Area. So comforting to know that my information is being handled somewhere far away.

Loved the symphony of frogs, the glow-in-the-dark flies, and the bird collection. So many treatments to choose from, I could've become a full-time spa-goer. And who doesn't love a tea break with wild animals?
Oh, how I adored the wild animals invading my privacy. Such a delight to have uninvited guests peeking through my patio.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The staff at the lodge were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast provided was delicious and satisfying. We also had a great view of the dam from our room, adding to the overall relaxing ambiance of our stay.
One minor drawback was that the dinner options were somewhat limited. The chicken breast lacked flavor and the mashed potato wasn't to our preference.

We had a blast exploring the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, spotting crazy animals like rhinos and lions up close. The adrenaline rush was real when we went canoeing and hiking in the breathtaking surroundings. Plus, the fishing was off the hook! Stornoway Lodge was the perfect basecamp for our adventures with its convenient location and friendly staff. Best trip ever!
We only wish there were more wild parties and epic nightlife options near the lodge. It would've been awesome to keep the energy going even after the sun set.

The lake view during breakfast was stunning and the beach restaurant with sandy floors was unique. The room spacing was great and the cleanliness was impressive. The prices for meals were reasonable and the portions were generous. The location was convenient for reaching Sandton in 15 minutes. The owner, Paula, was extremely kind and helpful.

The rooms at Stornoway Lodge are absolutely amazing! They have that cozy feeling with fireplaces and super comfy beds. I loved having my own little workspace too. It felt like a home away from home.
I'm not a huge fan of air conditioning, but I know others might appreciate it.

During our romantic escape, we absolutely loved the beautiful units located directly on the lakeside. The wildlife was a pleasant surprise, adding to the tranquil and calm environment. the staff were extremely polite and helpful, making us feel safe and secure throughout our stay.
The traffic noise, although it was easily drowned out when we relaxed in the jacuzzi. It would have been nice to have more entertainment options such as horse riding or quad biking.

A Memorable Family Retreat
My children wanted a dedicated kids' play area at the lodge.

Vibrant sounds from the frog population, fire flies in the summer months, and over 100 recorded species of birds create a symphony of nature, transforming this lodge into a bird lover's paradise. The picturesque landscape, with its tranquil gardens and 100-year-old Combretums, provides a serene escape. Amidst the beautiful glass blown masterpieces at Shades of Ngwenya, I felt like a kid in a candy store, except the candy was exquisite recycled glassware. Watching the ancient art of glassblowing was truly mesmerizing.
